Delhi: Amid rising tensions and widespread protests in Iran, the Indian Embassy in Tehran has released a renewed and urgent advisory asking Indian citizens to leave the country at the earliest using any available travel options.

In its latest communication, the embassy said the security situation is evolving rapidly and cautioned Indian nationals — including students, pilgrims, tourists, and businesspersons — against remaining in the country. It advised those currently in Iran to make immediate travel arrangements through commercial flights or other means of transport wherever possible.

The embassy also appealed to Indians and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) to remain extremely vigilant. Citizens have been urged to stay away from protest sites and large gatherings, keep a close watch on local news updates, and maintain regular contact with the Indian mission in Tehran.

Emphasising preparedness, officials asked Indian nationals to keep all essential travel and immigration documents, such as passports and identity papers, easily accessible at all times. The embassy assured assistance to those facing difficulties and shared emergency helpline numbers and an official email for immediate support.

Soon after the embassy’s advisory, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in New Delhi issued a parallel statement, strongly discouraging fresh travel to Iran. The MEA said Indian citizens should avoid visiting the country until further notice due to the prevailing instability.
