Mumbai: The Mumbai Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Wednesday arrested a 30-year-old Bangladeshi woman, identified as Bilkis Begum Sirmiya Akhtar, from Cuffe Parade for illegally staying in India without valid documents.

Officials stated that Bilkis had previously been deported in August 2025 but managed to re-enter the country by evading border patrols. During the arrest, police recovered her mobile phone containing a Bangladeshi national ID, confirming her identity.

An FIR has been registered under the BNS (Bombay National Security) and the Foreigners Act, and further investigations are underway. The Mumbai ATS is probing how she managed to bypass border controls and whether she had any local assistance in re-entering India.
