Delhi: Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma has strongly condemned Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Atishi, accusing her of insulting Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji during the Assembly session. The minister’s remarks came following the 350th martyrdom anniversary of the revered Sikh Guru, which was widely commemorated across the country.

Speaking to reporters, Verma said, “The 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur was celebrated across the country, and a special discussion was held on this in the Assembly. On the other hand, Leader of the Opposition Atishi not only failed to say a single word on this subject but also insulted the Guru with the words she used, which deeply hurt our sentiments. We are saddened that the AAP party leader and former Chief Minister of Delhi, Atishi, insulted our Gurus. Atishi is not present in the Assembly session today. We demand that she come to the House and that the Speaker decide what punishment she should receive.”

Verma’s statement has intensified the ongoing debate in the Assembly over respect for religious figures and the responsibilities of elected representatives. He criticized the opposition leader for failing to acknowledge the significance of the Guru’s martyrdom and for allegedly making remarks that were offensive to the Sikh community.

Political observers say the issue could escalate further, with demands for accountability and disciplinary action against Atishi gaining momentum in the Assembly. The minister urged the Speaker to take strict action, emphasizing that such behavior should not be tolerated in the House.
