Guwahati: With the Assam Assembly elections drawing closer, the Bharatiya Janata Party has moved into campaign mode well ahead of schedule, activating its organisational machinery across the state. The ruling party has begun a coordinated grassroots exercise aimed at strengthening its network and sharpening its electoral strategy.
Senior BJP leaders say the focus is now firmly on district- and booth-level readiness. The campaign officially gained momentum this week with the launch of a state-wide wall writing drive, flagged off by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma along with Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia. The initiative marks the start of a structured outreach programme intended to connect directly with voters.
As part of the preparation, the BJP has scheduled executive committee meetings in all 39 organisational districts between January 5 and January 11. These meetings are designed to review the party’s performance, assess local political conditions, and finalise plans for the coming months. The exercise is being conducted under the theme of returning a BJP-led alliance government to power.
Party leaders say the discussions are centred on strengthening booth committees, addressing voter concerns, and ensuring tighter coordination between state leadership and local workers. Senior leaders have been assigned to oversee meetings in different districts to ensure uniform planning and effective implementation of strategies.
The BJP is also highlighting the state government’s record under Chief Minister Sarma, pointing to job recruitment reforms, industrial growth initiatives, infrastructure expansion, education and healthcare projects, action against illegal encroachments, and measures aimed at maintaining law and order. The party believes these initiatives have created a strong governance narrative ahead of the polls.
However, BJP leaders maintain that organisational discipline and continuous public engagement remain key priorities. Rather than relying solely on past achievements, the party is emphasising feedback-driven planning and consistent outreach at the grassroots level.
