Tej Pratap Yadav Unveils First 21 Candidates for Janshakti Janta Dal, Targets Mahua Seat in Bihar Elections 2025

Patna: In a significant political move ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, Tej Pratap Yadav’s newly formed party, Janshakti Janta Dal (JJD), announced its first list of 21 candidates on Monday. The announcement marks the party’s formal entry into the electoral fray and signals a determined bid to challenge established players in the state.

Tej Pratap Yadav will contest from his stronghold Mahua Assembly seat, underscoring his strategy to consolidate local support. Speaking on the occasion, the party emphasized its focus on “energetic and clean-image candidates” who resonate with youth and grassroots voters.

This move comes after Tej Pratap’s expulsion from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), following which he formed JJD to carve out an independent political space. The development also intensifies the ongoing rift within the RJD family, with Tej Pratap taking a direct stance against his younger brother and RJD leader, Tejashwi Yadav.

The family dispute recently drew public attention when Tejashwi alleged that Tej Pratap had fielded candidates against RJD’s official nominees while still being a party member. Responding sharply, Tej Pratap stated, “He is my younger brother so he should understand who is Ram and who is Lakshman… He should observe propriety and respect his elder brother… Anyway, I am not paying attention to these things… Whatever he is doing, he must be doing with his own wisdom and understanding.” (Source: Official Statement by Tej Pratap Yadav)
