Mumbai: In just three and a half days, over 1.5 lakh Mumbaikars have downloaded the newly launched ‘Mumbai One’ app, developed under the leadership of IAS officer Rubal Agarwal, Managing Director of Mumbai Metro One (MMMOCL). The app has taken the city by storm, emerging as one of the fastest-growing digital public transport platforms in India.

Unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Mumbai One App integrates all key modes of Mumbai’s public transport — Metro, BEST buses, suburban locals, and other municipal services — into a single, easy-to-use digital interface. Within the first eight hours of launch, the app recorded 35,000 downloads, and the number has now crossed the 1.5 lakh mark, signaling massive user adoption.

Mumbai One: A Digital Game-Changer for Mumbai’s Public Transport

The Mumbai One App allows citizens to:
• Book digital tickets for Metro, suburban trains, and BEST buses.
• Make cashless payments via QR code.
• Access real-time transport updates and route information.
• Enjoy free Wi-Fi connectivity across select Metro stations.

With seamless connectivity across transport modes, the app promises to save commuters’ time, reduce instances of ticketless travel, and boost revenue for the Metro and other transport utilities.

According to MMMOCL officials, the app is already translating into higher ridership and additional fare income, creating a dual benefit — convenience for commuters and stability for the Metro’s finances.

IAS Rubal Agarwal: The Visionary Behind the Project

Known for her dynamic and result-oriented administrative style, IAS Rubal Agarwal has been instrumental in conceptualising and executing Mumbai One as an integrated transport innovation for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

Under her leadership, the project aims to make Mumbai’s public transport network smarter, faster, and fully digital — aligning with India’s broader Digital Governance and Smart City goals.

“Mumbai’s growing urban sprawl and traffic congestion demanded a unified digital solution. Mumbai One is that bridge — connecting people, mobility, and technology,” a senior metro official said.

The Digital Leap Forward

The Mumbai One App is already setting records for engagement. MMMOCL projects that over 5 million (50 lakh) citizens will be using the app by next year. The unified platform not only simplifies travel but also reflects Mumbai’s transition into a smart, tech-enabled metropolis.

Commuters are lauding the initiative for bringing all major transport options — Metro, Local Trains, and Buses — under one digital umbrella for the first time in the city’s history.

Key Features of the Mumbai One App
• Unified digital ticketing for Metro, BEST buses, and suburban trains.
• Integrated QR-based ticket validation.
• Real-time transport schedules and live tracking.
• Free public Wi-Fi support for easy access.
• Boosts both passenger convenience and Metro revenue.

Transforming Mumbai’s Mobility Landscape

With the city’s vehicular congestion worsening, the Mumbai One initiative represents a forward-looking step toward a seamless and sustainable transport ecosystem. Rubal Agarwal’s leadership and the MMRDA’s technological push have turned the vision of One City, One Mobility App into reality.
