At the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state executive meeting held in Panchkula on Saturday, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini expressed profound sorrow over the tragic death of IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar, calling it “a deeply unfortunate incident.” Party members observed two minutes of silence in memory of the late officer, praying for peace to his departed soul.

Saini revealed that he was in Japan when he received the news of Kumar’s death but immediately reached out to the officer’s wife to console her. He also directed senior officials to visit the family’s residence and provide all necessary support.

Promising a thorough and transparent investigation, the Chief Minister said, “No matter how influential the person responsible may be, they will not be spared.” He added that the government stands firmly with the bereaved family and assured justice. “If any injustice has been done to the family, our government will ensure justice,” Saini said, urging the opposition to refrain from politicizing the sensitive case.

Meanwhile, Chandigarh DGP Sagar Preet Hooda confirmed that the investigation is actively underway. He stated that the family has raised some grievances, and authorities have requested them to allow the post-mortem to be conducted at the earliest.

To ensure impartiality, the Chandigarh Police has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Inspector General Pushpendra Kumar to probe all aspects of the case in a time-bound manner.
