Mumbai: Mumbai Police have been placed on maximum alert on the eve of Anant Chaturdashi following a chilling bomb threat sent to the official WhatsApp number of the city’s traffic police. According to the message, 34 vehicles allegedly loaded with human bombs were positioned across Mumbai, warning that the metropolis would “shake after the blasts.”

The sender, claiming affiliation with a group named “Lashkar-e-Jihadi,” also stated that 14 Pakistani terrorists had already infiltrated the city. The message further claimed that around 400 kg of RDX would be used in the explosions, potentially endangering “up to one crore people.”

Police sources confirmed that the threat is being treated with the utmost seriousness due to its timing during a major festival. Cybercrime and anti-terrorism units have been mobilized to trace the origin of the message, while security has been ramped up at key intersections, religious processions, and densely populated areas.

A senior official urged calm, stating, “We are investigating the source of the WhatsApp message and verifying its authenticity. Citizens are requested to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.”
