Amritsar: In a dramatic turn of events, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra from Sanour managed to escape from police custody in Karnal on Tuesday. Pathanmajra, who had been arrested earlier in the day on rape charges, allegedly opened fire at the police along with his aides before fleeing the scene.
According to reports, the incident unfolded while the MLA was being taken to the local police station. During the transfer, Pathanmajra and his associates reportedly fired at the police team, injuring a cop in the process. In a desperate attempt to stop the MLA, one policeman was run over as Pathanmajra and his aide fled in two SUVs — a Scorpio and a Fortuner.
