Akhilesh Yadav Targets Centre Over China, Pakistan: ‘Who Stands Behind Pakistan?’

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and Lok Sabha MP Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday issued a sharp critique of the Indian government’s foreign policy, accusing it of ignoring the “real enemy” behind Pakistan-sponsored terrorism — China.

Responding to former US President Donald Trump’s recent remarks on India’s geopolitical challenges, Akhilesh questioned the Centre’s approach to national security and diplomacy. “The Indian government is not seeing who the real enemy is. All the terrorists come from Pakistan, but who is standing behind Pakistan? It is China,” he said.

The former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister added that India finds itself in the same vulnerable position whenever tensions flare on the border. “Do we have to go through the same situation every time there is a war-like scenario?” he asked, referring to past standoffs and incursions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Akhilesh also raised concerns over the government’s trade relationship with China, pointing out the contradiction between border tensions and ongoing commercial ties. “Trade cannot be avoided. China is snatching away our land and our trade,” he remarked, highlighting the growing economic dependency and its potential strategic consequences.
