New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday outlined her government’s ambitious plan to reposition the national capital as a global tourism destination, while also highlighting ongoing efforts to clean the Yamuna and revamp the city’s image.
Speaking at a public event, CM Gupta emphasized the need to “reimagine Delhi” as a city of pride and promise. “It’s important to reimagine Delhi’s image, as a positive city, the national capital, and the heartbeat of millions of Indians,” she said. “Delhi has everything global tourists seek: rich history, heritage, culture, cuisine, music, and art. All it needs is the right platform and exposure.”
Gupta said her administration is committed to giving Delhi the infrastructure and visibility it needs to compete with global cities. “Like every other state, Delhi’s tourism must flourish. Our government is working toward a cleaner, more beautiful, and better Delhi to build a positive image,” she added.
The Chief Minister also took the opportunity to spotlight the Yamuna river clean-up initiative, a long-standing environmental concern in the capital. “Every day, every moment, Delhi takes a step forward toward cleaning the Yamuna. The work that never happened during previous governments is now underway. We are addressing a backlog of three centuries,” she remarked.
