Mumbai : In a significant move to bolster the Ease of Doing Business in Maharashtra, the state government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy at Sahyadri Guest House, Mumbai. The initiative, witnessed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, aims to create a more conducive legal environment for industries while ensuring citizen-centric governance.

The MoU focuses on reviewing and reforming existing state laws that pose procedural hurdles or are criminally framed in a way that discourages investment and business growth. It also emphasises simplifying industrial processes and enhancing public convenience, safety, and accessibility.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Fadnavis said, “This partnership is a step towards creating a legally sound, business-friendly, and citizen-oriented environment in Maharashtra.”

As part of the agreement, the Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy will conduct an in-depth analysis of the state’s legal frameworks and submit a comprehensive report to the General Administration Department. This study will identify outdated, cumbersome, or unnecessarily punitive laws and recommend legal reforms that align with modern governance and economic priorities.

Senior officials and dignitaries from both the government and the legal think tank were present during the signing ceremony.

This collaboration is expected to accelerate Maharashtra’s efforts to attract investments, facilitate industrial growth, and enhance transparency and efficiency in governance.
