New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of failing to act on intelligence reports warning of a potential terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. Kharge claimed that the PM had received an intel report three days before the deadly attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 26 people.

Speaking to the media, Kharge stated, “There is an intelligence failure, the government has accepted it and they will resolve it. If they knew this, why didn’t they do anything?” He further revealed, “I got information that three days before the attack, an intelligence report was sent to PM Modi, and therefore he cancelled his programme to visit Kashmir. I also read this in a newspaper.”

The Congress leader criticized the government for not taking appropriate action despite being aware of the impending threat. “They said they would improve it. Our question is, when you know about it, then why were good arrangements not made?” Kharge added.
