Mangaluru: A shocking incident unfolded in the Kudupu area of Mangaluru, where an unidentified man was lynched on April 27 after allegedly shouting “Pakistan Zindabad” during a local cricket match. The incident occurred near the Bhatra Kallurti Temple, leading to widespread outrage and a swift police investigation.

The man’s body was discovered later, prompting a large-scale probe by local authorities. As of now, at least 15 people have been arrested in connection with the lynching, and several other suspects are under investigation.

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara confirmed that the case was being treated with utmost seriousness. “The victim’s identity is still unknown, and we don’t yet know if he was a local or from outside the state,” Parameshwara stated. Initial reports suggest that the man shouted pro-Pakistan slogans during the match, which reportedly led to the mob violence.

Calling the lynching “deeply concerning,” Parameshwara emphasized that violence in any form is unacceptable. “Even if someone said something offensive, the law should have taken its course. Taking matters into one’s own hands is unacceptable,” he said, condemning the act of vigilantism.

The Home Minister also appealed to the public to remain calm and patient. “We don’t yet have full clarity on what happened or who was involved. It’s too early to link it to any particular community. I appeal to everyone to maintain peace and harmony. This region has a legacy of communal amity, and that must be preserved,” he urged.
