New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia next week for a two-day official visit from April 22 to 23, 2025, at the invitation of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. This will mark PM Modi’s first visit to Saudi Arabia in his third term, and his third overall, following earlier visits in 2016 and 2019.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the upcoming trip underscores India’s commitment to deepening its multifaceted relationship with Saudi Arabia, a key partner in the region. “The visit of PM Modi reflects the importance India attaches to its bilateral relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” the MEA said.

The visit comes months after the Saudi Crown Prince’s high-profile visit to New Delhi in September 2023, where he co-chaired the inaugural meeting of the India-Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership Council and participated in the G20 Summit.

India and Saudi Arabia have cultivated a robust and evolving strategic partnership over the past decade, marked by increasing cooperation in politics, defence, security, trade, investment, energy, technology, health, education, and culture, among other areas. The two nations also share deep-rooted socio-cultural and historical ties, strengthened by centuries of trade and people-to-people contact.

Over the years, Saudi Arabia has emerged as one of India’s most important energy partners, while Indian companies and professionals continue to play a vital role in the Gulf nation’s economic landscape. Bilateral trade between the two countries crossed $52 billion in 2023–24, and ongoing high-level exchanges aim to further boost investment and innovation cooperation.

With this visit, PM Modi is expected to hold bilateral talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and other top Saudi leaders to review the progress of joint initiatives and explore new opportunities under the strategic partnership framework.

As per MEA, “India’s relations with the Kingdom have evolved into a stronger and enduring partnership in the past decade, expanding into many strategic domains, with growing investment commitments, broadening of defence cooperation and intensive high-level exchanges across sectors.”
