New Delhi: A chilling case of daylight crime rocked West Delhi on Friday morning when a 53-year-old property dealer was allegedly gunned down inside his SUV by unidentified assailants in the Paschim Vihar area.

The victim, Raj Kumar Dral, a resident of Paschim Vihar and originally from Tikri Village in Gurugram, was reportedly on his way to a local gym when the attack took place. According to police, at least two armed men in a white Maruti Dzire intercepted Dral’s Toyota Fortuner and opened fire at close range.

“Around four to five bullets hit the victim. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead,” said a senior police officer investigating the case.

Eyewitnesses told police that the attackers swiftly fled the scene in their vehicle, leaving behind a trail of panic in the usually quiet neighbourhood. Police are scanning CCTV footage from the area and checking crime records to ascertain if the murder was linked to any personal or professional dispute.

Sources said Dral had been active in the property business in Delhi-NCR for several years. While initial investigation suggests a targeted attack, officials have not ruled out any angle, including rivalry or extortion.

The brazen killing has sparked concerns about rising crime in the capital. Senior officers of the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch have been roped in, and teams are pursuing multiple leads.

An FIR has been registered and efforts are on to identify and arrest the culprits. “We are analysing CCTV footage and technical surveillance to track the suspects,” the officer added.
