Ahmedabad: In a powerful statement aimed at the Bahujan community, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reiterated his party’s unwavering commitment to social justice and called on the community to unite and support the Congress for a prosperous future. Gandhi’s remarks came on Thursday during the party’s AICC session in Ahmedabad, where the Congress highlighted its dedication to advancing the rights and welfare of SC, ST, and OBC communities.

At the session, Congress emphasized its firm stance on enacting a central law for the SC/ST Sub-Plan, ensuring budgetary allocations reflective of the population of these communities. Gandhi also underscored the party’s pledge to abolish the 50% cap on reservations, a step aimed at guaranteeing more equitable opportunities for historically marginalized groups.

In his message, Gandhi said, “We will make sure that the reservation rights for SC, ST, and OBCs in private educational institutions, as promised under Article 15(5) of the Constitution, are implemented without delay. Our message to the Bahujans is clear—support us on these crucial issues related to your future and help us strengthen the cause of social justice. Together, we can make a change. As we say, ‘haath badlega haalat’—with your support, we will transform the situation.”

The party’s ‘Nyaypath’ resolution, passed at the session, also calls for a nationwide caste census to provide a clear and data-driven approach to addressing issues of social inequality. Gandhi assured that these steps are not just political promises but a concrete plan for the upliftment of Bahujans, ensuring that their rightful share in governance and resources is protected.

Leading figures from the Congress, including party president Mallikarjun Kharge, former presidents Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, along with general secretaries K C Venugopal and Jairam Ramesh, were present during the session, where the theme was “Nyaypath: Sankalp, Samarpan aur Sangharsh” (Path of Justice: Resolve, Dedication, and Struggle).
