Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday announced an ambitious goal of achieving “zero unemployment” in the state, urging the youth to seize job opportunities in the private sector instead of solely waiting for government jobs. Speaking at a government-organized job and internship fair at Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhalim, Sawant emphasized that despite ample job openings, many positions remain unfilled due to a lack of applicants.

“We want to achieve zero unemployment in Goa. There are enough jobs available, but youngsters must come forward and grab these opportunities,” Sawant said. He pointed out that 1,000 vacancies are available under the PM Internship Scheme, offering salaries between ₹15,000-₹20,000 per month, and urged unemployed youth to enroll in the program to gain work experience.

The chief minister also announced that going forward, prior work experience will be made mandatory for securing government jobs in Goa. “Don’t wait for government jobs. Gain experience in the private sector first, then apply for government positions,” he advised.
