Bengaluru: In a landmark move to support the Kannada film industry, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced the launch of a dedicated OTT platform exclusively for Kannada films. The announcement was made during his 16th budget presentation, which featured an increased outlay of ₹4 lakh crore, up from ₹3.71 lakh crore last year.
The initiative aims to provide Kannada filmmakers with a digital platform to reach wider audiences, both nationally and internationally. With the growing demand for regional content on streaming services, this OTT platform will give local talent a much-needed boost while promoting Karnataka’s rich cultural heritage.
“We recognize the immense talent and potential within the Kannada film industry. This new platform will not only provide filmmakers a space to showcase their creativity but will also help in promoting our cultural heritage globally,” Siddaramaiah said in his budget speech.
The government’s move is also expected to create employment opportunities in the entertainment sector and support local artists and content creators. The state will collaborate with technology and media experts to ensure the seamless execution of the project, integrating it into the evolving digital landscape.
