Mumbai: Ameet Satam, BJP MLA from Andheri West, has expressed serious concern over the rising issue of illegal Bangladeshi nationals entering India through West Bengal and settling in Mumbai. Highlighting their alleged involvement in criminal activities, such as the recent Saif Khan attack case, Satam has urged immediate action to address this pressing problem.
In a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Satam has proposed a comprehensive action plan, including:
• Detention Centers: Establishing facilities on the outskirts of Mumbai to house illegal Bangladeshi entrants until their legal cases are resolved.
• Fast-Track Courts: Setting up special courts in major cities to expedite trials and ensure the immediate deportation of illegal entrants post-trial.
• Legal Amendments: Amending the Passport (Entry into India) Act, 1950, and the Foreigners Act, 1946, to introduce stricter penalties and deterrents for illegal immigration.
Satam emphasized that implementing these measures would enhance the safety and security of Mumbai and Maharashtra by addressing the risks posed by illegal entrants. He has urged the Chief Minister to take swift action to resolve this issue effectively.
The MLA’s letter reflects growing concerns about border security and the need for stringent measures to safeguard urban centers from unlawful immigration.
