Paktika: The Taliban has claimed that 46 people, including women and children, were killed in airstrikes carried out by Pakistan in December. According to reports, the strikes targeted four locations in Barmal, a district in the eastern province of Paktika, which borders Pakistan.

Hamdullah Fitrat, the deputy spokesman for the Afghan government, confirmed the incident, stating that the victims were refugees who had been living in the area. Six others were also reported to have been wounded in the attack.

The airstrikes have sparked outrage, with the Taliban condemning the attack as a violation of Afghan sovereignty. The victims, many of whom were civilians, were reportedly caught in the crossfire of the ongoing conflict between the Taliban and various insurgent groups in the region.

This incident adds to the growing tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, with both countries frequently accusing each other of cross-border attacks. The international community has called for an investigation into the airstrikes and urged both sides to de-escalate the situation to avoid further civilian casualties.

Pakistan has yet to officially comment on the incident. However, the airstrikes are said to have been part of Pakistan’s ongoing military operations targeting militant groups operating along the border.
