Delhi: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday underscored the growing threats posed by unconventional tools of warfare, including artificial intelligence (AI)-based strategies, cyberattacks, space warfare, and electromagnetic tactics. Addressing officers at the Army War College in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, Singh stressed the importance of being prepared for these modern challenges.

“Today, conflicts are ongoing in many parts of the world, and the possibility of confrontations is emerging in new areas. There is an atmosphere of uncertainty globally, with dynamic changes in international relations and radical shifts in methods of warfare,” Singh said, highlighting the evolving nature of global conflicts.

The Defence Minister elaborated on the role of information warfare, proxy tactics, and emerging technologies in shaping modern military strategies. He emphasized that these unconventional forms of warfare are becoming central to global conflicts and pose significant challenges to national security.

Singh praised the Army War College and other training centers in Mhow for their role in preparing the armed forces to tackle these threats. “Our armed forces must remain well-trained and equipped to meet the challenges posed by these new-age tools of warfare,” he said.

Calling for the adoption of frontier technologies, Singh stressed the need for the Indian armed forces to modernize their capabilities to remain competitive on the global stage.
