Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has announced his intent to file a defamation case against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Manoj Tiwari and BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya. The legal action follows claims made by the BJP leaders that Singh’s wife, Anita Singh, is not a registered voter in Delhi.

The controversy erupted after Sanjay Singh alleged on Sunday that the BJP was attempting to have his wife’s name removed from the Delhi electoral roll. In response, Tiwari and Malviya countered the allegation, citing an affidavit filed by Anita Singh, which reportedly states that she is a registered voter in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh. They argued that her voter registration in Delhi is therefore “invalid” and “illegal.”

Taking to social media, Malviya said, “As per Anita Singh’s own affidavit, she is a voter in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh. How can she be a voter in Delhi? The Election Commission must act swiftly against this serious violation.”

Manoj Tiwari echoed similar sentiments, demanding an investigation by the Election Commission into the matter and accusing Sanjay Singh of misleading the public.

Dismissing the BJP’s claims as baseless, Sanjay Singh stated that the accusations are part of a smear campaign against his family. “These are completely false allegations. My wife is a law-abiding citizen and a registered voter in Delhi. I will not tolerate such baseless personal attacks. I will file a defamation case against Manoj Tiwari and Amit Malviya for tarnishing her reputation,” Singh said during a press briefing on Monday.
