Over 40 schools in Delhi, including Delhi Public School (DPS) RK Puram and GD Goenka Public School, Paschim Vihar, were evacuated on Monday after receiving threatening emails demanding $30,000. The emails warned of planted bombs that would detonate if the payment was not made.

The emails, received late Sunday night and early Monday, claimed that “multiple bombs” were hidden within school premises. Delhi Police confirmed the contents of the email, stating, “The bombs are small and hidden very well. They won’t cause much damage to the building but could injure many people if detonated. If I do not receive $30,000, I will detonate the bombs.”

Delhi Public School in RK Puram and GD Goenka Public School were the first to report the emails, triggering an immediate police response. Other affected institutions included Mother Mary’s School, The British School, Salwan Public School, and Cambridge School.

Authorities evacuated students and staff as a precautionary measure, and specialized teams, including the bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs, were deployed to thoroughly inspect the premises. No explosives were found during the initial sweeps, but police continued their investigations.

The emails were reportedly sent late on December 8, with the first message being received at approximately 11:38 PM. The threats caused widespread panic among parents and school administrations.

A senior Delhi Police official stated, “We are treating the matter with utmost seriousness. Forensic teams are analyzing the origin of the emails, and cybercrime units are working to trace the sender.”

This incident adds to a growing number of security concerns involving educational institutions in India. Parents and school authorities have called for stricter measures to ensure student safety, while law enforcement agencies investigate whether this threat is connected to similar incidents in the past.

Delhi Police reassured the public that all necessary steps were being taken to safeguard the schools and bring the perpetrators to justice. Further updates on the investigation are awaited.
