The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a fierce attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, questioning his stance regarding Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who has been implicated in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment case. The Lokayukta Police registered an FIR against Siddaramaiah on Friday, accusing him of corruption in connection with the alleged misuse of land allotment in Mysuru.
Addressing the media, BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi stated, “It is a rare case of a sitting chief minister being named an accused in a corruption case, unmasking the corrupt face of the Congress.” He further challenged Rahul Gandhi’s silence on the matter, asking, “Does Rahul Gandhi stand with a chief minister accused of corrupt practices?”
The BJP’s accusations stem from allegations that Siddaramaiah used his political influence to secure 14 prime MUDA sites in Mysuru for his wife. The incident has sparked a political storm in Karnataka, with the BJP accusing the Congress of shielding corrupt leaders.
Trivedi didn’t hold back in his criticism, stating, “The Karnataka Congress and Siddaramaiah’s family have amassed immense wealth by exploiting government authority and land in Mysuru. The court has now named Siddaramaiah as Accused No. 1 in this case.”
Siddaramaiah, however, dismissed the allegations as politically motivated. He accused the BJP of engaging in “vendetta politics” and retaliating against him for his vocal criticism of the central government. “There are many corrupt individuals in the BJP. Let Narendra Modi first address the Hindenburg report and the ongoing violence in Manipur. Why hasn’t he visited Manipur? Rahul Gandhi has raised these issues, yet the Prime Minister remains silent,” Siddaramaiah was quoted as saying by PTI.
The controversy has also drawn reactions from Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, who called for Siddaramaiah’s resignation, citing the High Court’s verdict. “He has no other option but to step down. The High Court’s decision is clear – a person involved in such allegations cannot hold any position of power. Siddaramaiah must follow what he advocated back in 2011 and resign immediately,” Joshi demanded.
As the political showdown intensifies, all eyes are on Rahul Gandhi to see whether he will support the beleaguered Karnataka Chief Minister or distance himself from the controversy. The BJP has vowed to keep the pressure on, calling for transparency and accountability from the Congress leadership.
