In a significant political development, BJP MP CP Joshi has officially requested the cancellation of Rahul Gandhi’s passport, citing statements made by the Leader of the Opposition during his recent visit to the United States as constituting “anti-national activities.” The demand was made in a letter addressed to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, where Joshi accused Gandhi of misusing his position to make remarks that could potentially jeopardize India’s internal stability and international relations.

In his letter, Joshi expressed concern over Gandhi’s comments on foreign soil, stating, “As a responsible Indian citizen, his statements are in no way correct.” The MP emphasized that Gandhi’s remarks could adversely affect the security of India’s borders and its international relations due to his position as Leader of the Opposition. Joshi remarked, “Rahul Gandhi’s comments are not just political; they constitute anti-national activities that raise concerns about his conduct.”

Joshi further argued that Gandhi’s statements have tarnished India’s image globally and should not be justified under the guise of freedom of expression. He concluded by insisting that Gandhi should resign from his role as Leader of the Opposition, asserting that his behavior is incompatible with the responsibilities of his office.

Backing Joshi’s demands, Rajasthan BJP General Secretary Jitendra Gothwal suggested that, in addition to revoking Gandhi’s passport, his membership in Parliament should also be annulled. Gothwal accused Gandhi of attempting to damage India’s reputation on the international stage, branding him as a “black spot” in Indian democracy.

During his US visit, Rahul Gandhi engaged with university students and members of the Indian diaspora, addressing pressing issues such as unemployment and the role of the RSS in India. His comments concerning the condition of Sikhs in India and discussions on reservations have been met with fierce backlash from the BJP and its ally, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). The BJP accused him of “promoting” China and undermining India’s image abroad.

As the political battle intensifies, the controversy surrounding Gandhi’s remarks continues to draw attention, highlighting the growing tensions between the BJP and the Congress party in the run-up to the upcoming elections.
