Randeep Hooda’s latest cinematic endeavor, “Swatantrya Veer Savarkar,” has recently hit the screens, marking a significant portrayal of the life journey of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. Hooda, who not only acted but also directed the film, shed light on the challenges faced during its production.
In a candid revelation on the BeerBiceps podcast, Hooda disclosed the financial hurdles encountered in bringing “Swatantrya Veer Savarkar” to fruition. He expressed his initial intent to release the film on August 15, 2023, followed by January 26, 2024. However, the project encountered delays, impeding its timely release.
Reflecting on the obstacles encountered, Hooda attributed them to the lack of genuine commitment from the initial team associated with the project. He lamented the absence of support for the film, underscoring the personal sacrifices made to ensure its completion.
“My father had saved up and bought two or three properties for me in Mumbai, I let go of them and put the money into the movie. I couldn’t stop. This film didn’t have anybody’s support,” remarked Hooda, highlighting his unwavering dedication to the project.
Prior to Hooda’s involvement, Mahesh Manjrekar was slated to direct “Swatantrya Veer Savarkar.” However, he eventually withdrew from the project, paving the way for Hooda to take the helm.
The film features a stellar ensemble cast, including Ankita Lokhande portraying Yamunabai Savarkar, alongside Amit Sial, Chetan Swaroop, and Rajesh Khera, among others.
Despite the challenges faced during its production, “Swatantrya Veer Savarkar” has garnered considerable attention at the box office. On the 7th day since its release, the film has amassed an impressive ₹11.35 crore in India, signifying its resonance with audiences.
