In a development that directly impacts daily commuters, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has made a significant announcement regarding toll charges for the Rajiv Gandhi Bandra-Worli Sea Link, effective April 1.
This adjustment in toll charges will particularly affect individuals who rely on this crucial link that connects Mumbai’s western suburbs to the southern part of the city.
Here’s a breakdown of the revised tariff plan:
- Cars and Jeeps: Toll rates for cars and jeeps will witness a substantial increase, rising to ₹100 from the current ₹85.
- Minibuses, Tempos, and Similar Vehicles: Travellers using minibuses, tempos, and vehicles of similar sizes will also face a notable rise in charges. The toll for these vehicles will now be set at ₹160, compared to the previous ₹130.
- Two-Axle Trucks: Previously, two-axle trucks were charged ₹175 for a one-way journey across the sea link. However, under the revised tariff plan, these trucks will now be subject to a fee of ₹210.
This adjustment in toll charges reflects a broader trend of infrastructure development and maintenance, albeit at the expense of increased financial burden on commuters. The Rajiv Gandhi Bandra-Worli Sea Link stands as a vital transportation artery for Mumbai, significantly reducing travel time and enhancing connectivity between different parts of the city. However, the rise in toll charges may pose challenges for individuals who rely on this route for their daily commute.
