Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami unveiled plans on Monday for the construction of a police station on the recently cleared land of encroachments in Haldwani’s Banbhoolpura. This announcement comes in the wake of violence that erupted last week following the demolition of an “illegally built” madrasa by authorities.
In a statement shared on social media platform ‘X’, CM Dhami conveyed, “Now a police station will be constructed at the place where illegal encroachment was removed in Banbhulpura, Haldwani.”
Asserting a strong stance against disruptors, CM Dhami emphasized, “This is a clear message from our government to the miscreants and rioters that no one who plays with the peace of Devbhoomi will be spared; there is no room for such miscreants in Uttarakhand.”
The violence on February 8 resulted in the loss of six lives, including five purported rioters, during the demolition of an ‘illegal’ madrasa and a structure used for conducting namaz. Additionally, around 60 individuals sustained injuries amidst the clashes.
