Prime Minister Narendra Modi didn’t hold back during his address to the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday as he engaged in a scathing critique of the opposition, particularly targeting Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi.

In his speech during the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address, PM Modi took aim at Kharge’s recent comments and mocked him for his entertainment value, stating, “Usually, we get entertainment in Lok Sabha, but that person is busy in some other activities currently. But your speech gave us entertainment in Rajya Sabha.”

The Prime Minister didn’t spare Rahul Gandhi either, taking a swipe at his recent activities and the Congress party’s initiatives. He referred to the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, calling it a “non-starter” and remarking, “Na lift ho raha hai, na launch ho raha hai” (It’s neither lifting, nor launching).

PM Modi also accused the Congress of hypocrisy, citing examples from history where he claimed the party fostered a slave mindset and neglected the welfare of backward classes, dalits, and Adivasis. He questioned the Congress’s commitment to social justice, highlighting instances where he believed the party failed to deliver on its promises.

Furthermore, PM Modi blamed the Congress for the state of public sector undertakings (PSUs), accusing the party of neglecting and dismantling them over the years. He defended his government’s actions, claiming that PSUs are now yielding record returns and contributing to the country’s economic growth.

Addressing recent protests in South Indian states over alleged insufficient funds from the Centre, PM Modi accused certain elements of peddling a narrative to divide the nation. He reiterated his government’s commitment to poverty alleviation and social welfare, claiming that millions have been lifted out of poverty and provided with essential resources.

In conclusion, PM Modi declared that the Congress party is “out of warranty” and asserted that the people of India no longer have faith in its leadership.

The Prime Minister’s speech sparked reactions across political circles, with supporters lauding his bold stance and critics accusing him of political grandstanding. As tensions continue to simmer between the ruling party and the opposition, the future of political discourse in India remains uncertain.
