In a significant move, Union minister Jitendra Singh announced on Thursday that all central government offices will remain closed for half a day on January 22 in honor of the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The decision aims to allow employees to participate in the celebrations surrounding the historic event.

According to an official order issued to all central government ministries and departments, the closure will extend to central institutions and central industrial establishments across India. The shutdown will be effective until 1430 hours on January 22, 2024, providing an opportunity for government employees to engage in the festivities related to the Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha.

At 12:30 pm on January 22, the much-anticipated pran-pratishtha ceremony of the Ram Temple is scheduled to take place in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and various dignitaries from diverse backgrounds. The ceremonies at the Ayodhya temple complex commenced on January 16, with specific rituals being performed daily in the lead-up to the grand event.

The Bar Council of India, recognizing the cultural and historical significance of the occasion, has also written to Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, requesting a holiday on January 22. In the letter, Bar Council of India chairman Manan Kumar Mishra emphasized the immense importance of the inauguration of the Shri Ram Mandir, describing it as a realization of a long-awaited dream and a culmination of pivotal legal proceedings.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi further marked the occasion on Thursday by releasing commemorative postage stamps depicting the history and historical moments surrounding the opening of the Ram Temple. The stamps serve as a symbolic representation of the monumental achievement and the cultural significance attached to the completion of the temple.

As the nation gears up to witness this historic moment, the closure of central government offices on January 22 underscores the recognition of the event’s cultural and national importance, allowing citizens and government employees alike to join in the celebrations surrounding the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
