As the dust settles post the elections in five states spanning from November 7 to November 30, the exit polls conducted on Thursday have projected a varied landscape, hinting at potential outcomes in Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Mizoram.
Congress in Chhattisgarh and Telangana:
Exit polls have consistently indicated a probable advantage for the Congress in Chhattisgarh and Telangana. With the Congress currently governing both states, these projections suggest a potential extension of their rule.
BJP Ahead in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan:
On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seems to hold the edge in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, where the BJP and Congress respectively hold power.
Close Race in Mizoram:
The exit polls have thrown light on a closely contested race in Mizoram between the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) and the Mizo National Front (MNF), with the Congress and BJP trailing behind. This neck-to-neck battle indicates an intriguing contest for governance in the state.
Current Political Scenario:
Presently, the BJP holds power in the 230-member Madhya Pradesh assembly, while the Congress governs the 200-seat Rajasthan assembly and the 90-seat Chhattisgarh assembly. In Telangana, the K Chandrashekhar Rao-led Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has been in power for a decade, and in Mizoram, the MNF currently heads the government.
Counting Day Awaited:
As the nation anticipates the final verdict, the countdown to the counting of votes on December 3 begins. These exit poll projections provide an early glimpse into the potential political landscape, offering insights into the direction of power dynamics in the respective states. However, it’s essential to await the official results on the designated counting day for the conclusive declaration of the electorate’s mandate.
