Amid the raging debate and controversy surrounding ‘The Kerala Story’, theatre owners in Tamil Nadu announced that they would not be screening the film due to law and order issues.

And now, the makers have decided to move court against the theatre owners, calling their move “illegal”.

‘The Kerala Story’ is said to be based on true events of Kerala women being tricked into joining the ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

According to a report in Times of India, ‘The Kerala Story’ director Sudipto Sen and producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah are set to move court over Tamil Nadu theatre owners’ decision to not screen the film in the state.

Sen confirmed with the portal that he makers will indeed take legal action against Tamil Nadu theatre owners.

Not just in Tamil Nadu, but in Kerala too, numerous theatres have cancelled the screenings of ‘The Kerala Story’, citing law and order issues.

On the other hand, special screenings are being arranged by political leaders in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and other states. The film has even been declared tax free in MP.

‘The Kerala Story’ released in theatres on May 5 and it has been creating waves across the country since before its release.

However, there seems to be no impact of the controversies on the film’s business, as several theatres were rendered houseful over the weekend, so much so that midnight shows had to be added to meet the demand.

‘The Kerala Story’ narrates the tale of three women tricked and trafficked to ISIS dominant countries of Iraq and Syria through love jihad.

The film stars Adah Sharma, Siddhi Idnani, Sonia Balani, and Yogita Bihani in lead roles.
