Kiev: Polish Deputy Prime Minister, leader of the ruling party “Law and Justice”, Jarosław Kaczyński, has proposed sending a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) mission or a larger mission to Ukraine. He made this statement following a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev.
“We need a NATO peacekeeping mission or perhaps a much larger international structure. But such a mission, which will be able to defend itself, will be carried out in the territory of Ukraine. Which, of course, with the consent of the president and the Ukrainian government. And it will not be an unarmed mission, a mission that will be designed to bring peace, to bring humanitarian aid, but which will also be protected by the appropriate forces – the armed forces.” Jarosław Kaczyński said during the conference, which was broadcast on Polish television.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the visit is a “strong sign of support” during a difficult time that was appreciated.
“The purpose of the visit is to confirm the unequivocal support of the entire European Union for the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine,” Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala wrote on his Facebook wall.
Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki, Deputy Prime Minister and head of Poland’s ruling party “Law and Justice” Jarosław Kaczyński, Prime Ministers of the Czech Republic and Slovenia Petr Fiala and Janez Jansha are currently in Kiev. The politicians arrived in the Ukrainian capital by train on Tuesday.
