Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday likened the current situation in Bangladesh to the actions of Mughal ruler Babur’s forces in Ayodhya and Sambhal centuries ago. Speaking at the inauguration of the 43rd Ramayan Mela in Ayodhya, Adityanath emphasized the importance of unity in society, invoking the teachings of Lord Ram.

The Chief Minister said, “Had we prioritized unity and thwarted the enemies’ strategies to sow social discord, this country would never have faced slavery. Our pilgrimages would not have been desecrated, and invaders would not have dared to challenge the valor of India’s soldiers.”

Adityanath further highlighted the persistent impact of societal divisions, suggesting that the same “DNA” of those who caused upheaval in the past continues to influence present events. He criticized those engaging in caste-based politics, accusing them of undermining social cohesion.

Drawing a direct parallel, he remarked, “Five hundred years ago, a general of Babur committed certain acts in Ayodhya and Sambhal. Similar actions are happening in Bangladesh today. The nature and DNA of these events remain unchanged.”

The remarks, steeped in historical references, come amid political discourse around cultural heritage and social unity, reflecting Adityanath’s consistent focus on historical narratives in shaping his leadership message.
