Mumbai: Alert to the detection of the new Omicron variant of the Coronavirus in South Africa, the Government of Maharashtra has issued new guidelines with a view to curb its spread in the state. This new variant is said to be dangerous and spreads faster than earlier variants. Moreover, if people are caught violating Covid-19 protocols they will be fined for ₹500.
As per the latest guidelines, it is mandatory to follow the basic rules like always wearing a mask, maintaining 6 feet social distance. Apart from the old rules one more one thing is added that if anyone found to be using a handkerchief instead of a mask will be treated as mask less and will have to pay a fine of ₹500.
The main points of the guidelines are as follows:
Visitors, guests, customers have been allowed to attend 50% of the total capacity in programs, activities, events, such as cinema halls, marriage halls, theatres, convention halls etc. to be held within the closed space. Those attending the program should be fully vaccinated.
The order states that entry only to fully vaccinated people in public transport, malls will also have to be strictly followed. It will be compulsory for commuters to have a universal pass without which no one will be allowed to travel by train.
International, inter-state travellers will have to produce the RT-PCR report 72 hours before entering Maharashtra.
Any premises, organization, society will have to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 to visitors, customers if they are found violating the rules. If found violating the rules repeatedly, the society or organization will be kept closed till the corona infection gets over till further orders.
Organisations found violating the rules will be fined Rs 50,000, establishments failing to follow CAB (Covid Appropriate Behaviour) or Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). For violation of rules in taxi, private transport, four-wheeler, bus, along with the passenger, a fine of Rs 500 will be charged from the driver, conductor, assistant. Apart from this, a penalty of Rs 10,000 will also be imposed on the bus owner.
