In a devastating incident, a three-storey building in Dombivali, a suburb of Thane, collapsed on Friday, sending shockwaves through the community. The incident has prompted an immediate response from local authorities and emergency services as they work tirelessly to rescue individuals trapped under the debris.
Upon receiving the distress call, fire brigade personnel, municipal administration teams, and police forces swiftly converged on the scene to initiate rescue operations. The situation remains tense as rescuers race against time to locate and extract any survivors buried beneath the rubble.
Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) Commissioner, who arrived at the scene to oversee the rescue efforts, shared grim details with the media. “Rescue work has been initiated,” he confirmed. “Based on the information we have received, a 70-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman are currently trapped under the debris.”
The incident unfolded rapidly, prompting immediate action from local authorities. Bhausaheb Dangde, Commissioner of Kalyan Dombivli Mahapalika, provided insight into the urgency of the situation. “Our Assistant Commissioner and other colleagues rushed to the spot upon realizing that the building was collapsing,” he said. “They successfully evacuated residents residing in the building. Unfortunately, we have learned that two individuals remain trapped.”
Reports indicate that the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation had previously issued notices to residents of the deteriorating Adinarayan Nava building, located in the Ayre-Dattanagar complex in Dombivli East. Despite these warnings, a few individuals continued to inhabit the complex, putting their lives at risk.
As rescue operations continue at the site, the community and authorities remain hopeful for the safe recovery of those trapped beneath the debris. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of heeding safety warnings and addressing structural concerns in aging buildings to prevent such tragic occurrences in the future.
