Mumbai: Asking the district administration and police mechanism in state to remain vigilant and ensure that the restrictions under “Break the Chain” initiative are implemented strictly, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that we were successful in preventing the Corona transmissions last time but current challenge is more challenging and difficult which is why we can’t afford to be ignorant and can’t afford transmissions spreading further.

Addressing the divisional commissioners, district collectors, municipal Commissioners and Police officials during an online meeting, the chief minister asked the officials to have clarity while implementing the restrictions without any confusion whatsoever.

Revenue minister Balasaheb Thorat, health minister Rajesh Tope, minister for medical education Amit Deshmukh, chief secretary Sitaram Kunte, additional chief secretary to chief minister Ashish Kumar Singh, principal secretary to chief minister Vikas Kharge, principal secretary to health department Dr Pradeep Vyas, rehabilitation and relief principal secretary Aseem Gupta, Mumbai CP Hemant Nagrale, doctors from state and district task forces were present.

The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that financial assistance announced by the state Government for the weaker sections of the society and poor people reaches them and asked officials to plan in such a way that there are no complaints. Thackeray further directed the authorities to get a fire audit done and check Jumbo facilities before the Monsoon season starts.

The Chief Minister said that the samples have shown that the Corona virus has undergone mutation and this time the rate of transmission is much more than last year. He said that the younger generation is more infected this time and we are trying to avail oxygen on war footing. He asked the doctors to seek guidance from the state task force experts so that district level doctors can undertake treatment protocols as per latest changes.

Stating that we need to take precautions while using oxygen and Remdesivir so that their use is appropriate and proper, the chief minister said that we should undertake checking of Jumbo facilities before the Monsoon so that we can check whether these facilities are safe for ensuing Monsoon and storms if any. He asked officials to get a fire safety audit done for all the hospitals and avoid any negligence in this. He also asked to give more attention to micro and small containment zones.

Saying that essential services have not been interrupted but it does not mean that we should witness that there is crowding or violation of rules, the Chief Minister said that the local administration needs to close down such services if there is violation of Corona rules or there is crowding.

Arguing that crowds at weddings was one of the major reasons for spread of transmissions he asked district and police administration to ensure that all the rules in this regard are adhered to.

The state task force expert Dr Sanjay Oke, Dr Tatyarao Lahane asked doctors to avoid undue use of Remdesivir and also asked doctors to go for judicious use of Oxygen. They also guided doctors on HRCT tests and Plasma use. Doctors from various district level task forces clarified their doubts about treatment protocol during the meeting.

Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte made opening remarks in which he said that while imposing stricter restrictions we aim to break the chain of Covid transmissions. He asked officials to avoid any contradictory action or excess and asked officials to seek guidance from Mantralaya if there are any doubts.
