In a candid interview with Lehren Retro, actor Chunky Panday revealed an interesting anecdote about his preference for staying at hotels over his close friend Shah Rukh Khan’s lavish residences during vacations.
Chunky, whose daughter Ananya Panday is friends with Shah Rukh’s daughter Suhana Khan, admitted that while his wife Bhavana and others have stayed at the superstar’s houses in London and Dubai, he likes to book a hotel room instead.
“Yes, Bhavana and others have all stayed in Shah Rukh’s house in London and Dubai. I have also stayed at his house a couple of times, but of course, I like to stay at a hotel,” Chunky told Lehren Retro.
Explaining his quirky preference, the actor joked, “I would love to stay in someone’s house, but I am messy, and I know that they will throw me out of their house in two days. I have stayed at Shah Rukh’s house though. He has lovely houses. I am very proud of him.”
During the interview, Chunky also shared an amusing anecdote about his “miser” nature, revealing how he used to bring his cigarettes to sets, leading everyone to smoke from his pack, saving him money.
“In those days, everybody used to smoke cigarettes and everybody also wanted to quit cigarettes. So nobody brought them to the sets. But I didn’t want to leave it, so I took my own pack to the sets. And everybody used to take cigarettes from my pack. I realised five to six packets of my cigarettes used to finish every day. My kanjoosi (miserliness) started there,” he recalled.
When asked about his daughter Ananya’s open relationship with actor Aditya Roy Kapur, Chunky expressed pride in her ability to make her own choices, including her decision to pursue acting at 18 with “Student of the Year 2.”
The interview with Lehren Retro offered a glimpse into Chunky’s long-standing friendship with Shah Rukh Khan and his candid thoughts on various aspects of his personal and professional life.
