Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the passage of the “two landmark” farm bills in the Rajya Sabha has “cemented the strong foundation for ‘Atmanirbhar Agriculture’.
He said that the bills will create a modern and world class agriculture ecosystem in the country which will benefit the consumers, wholesalers, processors and start ups apart from farmers.
In an article published in Ahmedabad based leading Gujarati daily, Mr. Singh said that India’s position in the world market will become stronger with self-reliant farmers. He said that it will also help to take one step forward to fullfill our dream to increase the farmers income, prosperity and thus to make them entrepreneurs. He congratulated Prime Minister Modi for his vision to identify the real potential of Indian Agriculture.
Rejecting all apprehensions, Mr. Singh said that all present systems including Minimum Support Price MSP and Agriculture Producers Market Committee APMC will continue to stay. He said that reforms will not abolish the present system but it will further strengthen it.
