Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has decided to buy 40 ventilators for its Covid Care Centre in the satellite city. Initially the civic body will be buying 40 ventilators for the Dr. D Y Patil Hospital.
Earlier the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Airoli Constituency Ganesh Naik alleged that all the ventilators in CCC are of substandard quality.
Speaking with thenews21 Correspondent Sanjay Kakde, Additional Commissioner, NMMC said, “Yes it is true that we decided to purchase 30 ventilators and for that we have quoted a base minimum price of Rs. 10 Lakh for one ventilator. We have floated the tenders and are waiting for the bidders to quote their rates. As of now we are in process and we have not received any quotation. But we are sure that in other four to five days we will be able to complete the process.”
Kakde further added, “The civic body have received twenty ventilators from the PM Cares and now initially purchase of 30 ventilators by NMMC was decided but later we added 10 more to it. The minimum base price quote for per ventilator from our side is 10 lakh which means it will put a burden of Rs. 4 crores on NMMC. All the 40 ventilators will be placed at Dr. D Y Patil Hospital. Also if the ICU beds capacity will increase in Covid Care Centre we will also start increasing the ventilators capacity.”
When the thenews21 Correspondent spoke to the Chief Executive Officer Dr. Rahul Peddawad of Dr. D Y Patil Hospital regarding the 40 ventilators from the NMMC to the hospital to which he said, “We have already received 20 ventilators for our hospital which came from PM Cares. The ventilators which came from the PM Cares are not so technically sound and it’s not on par with the standard needed for Covid-19 patients. So now the NMMC will be giving 40 ventilators of standard quality for Dr. D Y Patil Hospital. Earlier there was a memorandum of understanding between NMMC & Dr. D Y Patil Hospital for 200 beds and 80 ventilators for Covid-19 patients.”-By Abhitash D Singh
