Manipur: A transgender young doctor working dedicatedly against COVID-19

In Manipur, a transgender doctor, inspired by the Prime Minister’s appeal to the people to stand and work together to eradicate novel Coronavirus, is working dedicatedly against the COVID-19. The 27 year old transgender Beoncy Laishram is working at a reputed private hospital in Imphal and has been treating COVID-19 patients since the outbreak of virus in the State.

AIR Imphal Correspondent reports that the transgenders are known as Nupi Manbi in Manipur. There are many talented transgenders in Manipur which often create headline stories of the newspapers. Once more, a transgender young doctor has shown to the people that the collective effort is necessary while fighting the pandemic. Beoncy Laishram from Imphal had completed MBBS from reputed medical college of Imphal-RIMS and working at Shija Hospital and Research Institute now.

She has decided to devote his duty towards treating COVID-19 patients without fear and it has passed on the message to the people that collectively, without caste and creed, we can win the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Beoncy Laishram also said that people should not discriminate against the COVID-19 patients as well as the frontline worriours.
