Mumbai: The 71 as Republic Day is being celebrated with patriotic fervour across Maharashtra. Addressing the main government function at Shivaji Park Ground in central Mumbai’s Dadar after unfurling the national flag, Maharashtra Governor, Bhagat Singh Koshyari said, the state government has given benefit to 30 lakh registered farmers’ by disbursing 20 thousand crore rupees under the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule farmers’ loan waiver scheme.
The Governor highlighted that Maharashtra has continued to leapfrog in the country even during the adverse situation out of Covid crisis, adding that the state has remained at the forefront when it came to industries, investment and employment generation.
Under `Magnetic Maharashtra 2.0’, Koshyari said the state has attracted investments worth Two lakh crore rupees by signing MoUs with various leading companies and through foreign direct investment. He noted that the huge investment is a big achievement of the government as it will pave the way to employ more than 2.53 lakh people.
The R-Day event was attended by Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray and various other top government, defence and police officials.
Governor Koshyari informed that during the lockdown period, financial assistance of five thousand rupees each was provided to more than one million construction and Mathadi workers.
He said, under the project “whatever is sold will be cultivated”, he said, 1,345 district wise and crop-wise value chains are being implemented.
He said, all are fighting unitedly against Covid-19 for more than nine months and even though the number of Covid patients has come down, he cautioned people to remain vigilant.
He said the state government has taken many decisions keeping the health at the centre point of planning.
Koshyari said, as soon as the state government took a serious note of Covid-19 spread and possible pandemic, it took efforts to reduce virus spread and waged combat against it with a sense of responsibility. He added that he appreciates the efforts put by all the Covid warriors in this fight.
He asked people to exhibit the same courage as they did earlier and remain alert about health by adopting a new lifestyle with self-discipline, in days to come. Further, he also said that utmost priority should be given to maintain social distancing by wearing face masks and washing hands regularly.
The Governor said, apart from Covid-19, the state faced calamities such as hailstorm, cyclone ‘Nisarg’, untimely rains and Bird Flu it is still marching ahead in all the sectors.
He underlined that during the Covid crisis, the state received financial blow but the Maha Vikas Aaghadi Government took different measures to find an exit route. Stating that Maharashtra will convert calamity into opportunity, he said, all calamities have been confronted with might and determination.
He also mentioned that the state gives emphasises to women empowerment saying that the ‘Nav Tejaswini’ scheme has been announced for empowerment of rural women. This scheme, he added will reach out to one million rural families. E-business platforms are being used to strengthen the network of women’s self-help group (SHG’s) in the State, he said.
