In anticipation of the scheduled farmers’ march to Delhi on February 13, the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar-led Haryana government has announced the suspension of mobile internet, bulk SMS, and dongle services in several districts. This move comes as part of precautionary measures to maintain law and order amid the planned protests.

According to an official notification issued by the Haryana administration, mobile internet services will be suspended in seven districts—Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad, and Sirsa—from 6 am on February 11 until 11.59 pm on February 13. Additionally, bulk SMS and all dongle services, except voice calls, will remain suspended during this period.

Security has been tightened in Jind, Haryana, ahead of the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march, with Jind Police issuing a traffic advisory to ensure the safety and convenience of commuters. Motorists and commuters have been urged to utilize main roads only for urgent matters on the day of the scheduled march. The advisory also warns of potential traffic disruptions on main routes from Haryana to Punjab.

Elaborate arrangements have been put in place by the police to maintain peace, prevent violence, and facilitate traffic and public transport. Heavy police deployment and barricading have been observed in Ambala and other affected areas to deter any untoward incidents.

In a significant development, the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) Lakhowal in Ludhiana declared that they will not participate in the ‘Delhi Chalo’ protest on February 13. However, they asserted that they would oppose any instances of manhandling or violence against the participating farmers during the march.

Amidst these preparations and announcements, the focus remains on ensuring the safety of all stakeholders while respecting the right to peaceful protest. Authorities are poised to manage the situation effectively, balancing the need for security with the fundamental rights of citizens to express their grievances through lawful means. As tensions simmer and anticipation mounts, the coming days will undoubtedly be crucial in determining the outcome of this high-stakes standoff between the farming community and the government.
