In a development that has sent shockwaves through the international community, Hamas, the militant group operating in the Gaza Strip, recently shared a video of a hostage abducted during the Supernova Sukkot Music Festival. The video, which went viral on Monday, features Miya Shem, a 21-year-old woman from Shoham who was abducted during the attack on the music festival, where a tragic loss of life occurred with at least 260 individuals losing their lives.

The 1-minute and 18-second video depict Shem lying down while someone wraps a bandage around her right arm. In a heartfelt plea, Shem identifies herself and mentions undergoing a three-hour operation to address an injury to her hand. “They’re caring for me, they’re treating me, they’re giving me medication. Everything is okay,” she assures, “I’m only asking to be returned home as soon as possible, to my family, to my parents, to my siblings. Please get us out of here as soon as possible,” she adds.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has confirmed notifying the Shem family of Miya’s abduction and is in contact with the family, deploying all necessary intelligence and operational resources to secure the safe return of the hostages. In response to the release of the video, an IDF spokesperson emphasized the humanitarian facade presented by Hamas, despite its history of perpetrating acts of terrorism.

“At this time, IDF representatives are in contact with the family. The IDF operates with all intelligence and operational means for the return of the abductees. In the video, Hamas tries to present itself as a humanitarian organization while it is a murderous terrorist organization, responsible for the murders and kidnappings of babies, women, children, and the elderly,” stated the IDF spokesperson.

Hamas has not provided an explanation for the timing of the video’s release. In a troubling revelation on Monday, the terror group claimed to be holding 200 hostages in Gaza, with an additional 50 being held by other factions. This announcement has further escalated concerns regarding the safety and well-being of the hostages and has drawn international attention to the ongoing crisis. Efforts to secure the release of the hostages are expected to intensify in the coming days.
