Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has firmly dismissed speculations of a leadership change in the state of Maharashtra, labeling them as “intellectual bankruptcy.” Fadnavis asserted that individuals vying for leadership positions do not announce such intentions over social media platforms and criticized media pundits for reading too much into non-issues.

Addressing the issue of an old video of his being posted on the official Twitter handle of the state BJP unit, Fadnavis explained that the video was shared by a young social media executive and there was no need for overinterpretation. The video was later deleted to prevent further speculations and controversy.

Fadnavis reaffirmed his party’s stance that the next elections would be contested under the leadership of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, emphasizing that the MahaYuti government would complete its full term under Shinde’s leadership. He assured that there were no chances of disqualification for Shinde or members of his group.

Fadnavis suggested that the speculations about disqualification were promoted by the Shiv Sena to maintain party cohesion. He also clarified that Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had been promised the post and agreed that Shinde would remain Chief Minister.

Despite the challenges of running a three-party coalition, Fadnavis emphasized the firm foundation of the government and the availability of alternative paths to maintain leadership even in case of disqualification.

“Chief Minister Eknath Shinde shall complete his whole tenure, not even a day less, and we shall contest elections under his leadership and win with flying colors,” Fadnavis concluded.
