Conflict in Ukraine is a hotbed for fascist forces

Moscow: The fight for the control of Mariupol city between Russian and Ukrainian forces has intensified. The Azov fascist regiment is siding with the Ukrainian army in this fight. This is a diehard fascist organization.  

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and western countries are providing modern weapons to these fascist forces. Since 2014 CIA is playing a key role in imparting military training to members of the Azov regiment. These fascists played a key role in overthrowing the legally elected government of Ukraine in 2014. When Russian speaking areas of Donbass declared autonomy from Ukraine, gendarmes of the Azov regiment regained control over Mariupol and shot into prominence.

After announcing the formation of a political party. In 2016, Azov Regiment leader Andriy Yevhenovych Biletsky served as a member of the Ukrainian Parliament between 2014-2019. White supremacy and disdain for so-called lower races is the ideological basis of this fascist organization. They forged links with US-based White supremacy groups. Brenton Tarrant, the Australian mass murderer of 51 peaceful Mosque worshippers met the leaders of the Azov regiment. 

The American Congress refused funds for this organization in 2018 and Facebook blocked its account on grounds of extremism. But now both are projecting these fascists as fighters for democracy. Presently arms and financial resources are being amply supplied to these fascist forces by the US, UK, Denmark, Norway Latvia have all collectively trained 2,00,000 fascists who are masquerading as volunteers in the fight against Russia. 

On one hand, these brutal forces are using ordinary civilians as human shields in their fight against Russian forces besides the merciless killings of those opposed to their ideology. Their false propaganda that Russia is indulging in mass killings of innocent civilians is being actively spread by subservient media. 

Fascist forces from different places have found a common cause with these North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) trained Nazis. Irrespective of the result of Russia’s military action against denazification, this is going to be protracted internal strife with Ukraine becoming the rallying point of Nazis of all creeds. 

No right-thinking person can support the Ukrainian government’s stand of echoing these fascist forces. Western nations’ vigorous propaganda that they are supporting forces of democracy and freedom, are hollow.  Website socialist International wrote that NATO countries are fully responsible for this war. 

If Russian forces capture Mariupol there would be a land corridor opened with the Crimean Peninsula. Nearly 80 per cent of Ukraine’s Sea trade from the Black Sea would be blocked. Only the port city of Odessa will remain with Ukraine. Mariupol port is from where Ukraine exports grain, minerals and iron to several countries. 

NATO countries are openly announcing that they intend to extend military help for an Afghan type resistance thereby draining the Russian economy in a long-drawn conflict. These statements belie hopes of a peaceful settlement. 

Azov regiment has alleged that the Russian troops had shelled a maternity hospital, while the latter insisted that the hospital was, in reality, a training base of Azov forces, not in use for a long time. 

In response, Ukrainian official sources have posted pictures of a pregnant woman being carried from the hospital. Russia ridiculed these claims by saying that the woman was a drama actress and was not carrying.

Ukrainian government also accused Russia of bombing the Donetsk regional theatre while Russia responded that Ukrainian troops intentionally bombed the theatre, objects of Russian strikes are proven military bases, never civilians.

Azov regiment soldiers have fascist insignia on their uniforms, they have tattoos of Hitler and Nazi symbols all over their bodies.

Even before the war started, they took out torch processions raising their hands in Nazi-style salutations creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity. Minorities belonging to the Roma gypsy community are being targeted and tormented by them. If the Azov forces withstand the Russian assault Ukraine will be doomed as they will be de-facto rulers in future. 

Even if Ukraine agrees to Russian conditions for a peaceful settlement, Azov fascists are unlikely to relent and instead are readying themselves for a protracted civil war.
