New Delhi: Congress leader and chief spokesperson Pawan Khera launched a scathing rebuttal against former Delhi Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi on Friday, demanding she delete her social media post that blamed Opposition leaders for allegedly aiding Pakistan’s narrative on the recent Pahalgam terror attack.

In a strongly worded response, Khera said, “I expected better from you. If an educated person like you can fall for fake propaganda without verifying facts, what can we expect from those whose only qualification is a degree in political science?” He further warned, “Apologise and delete the post, or be prepared to face legal consequences.”

Bedi’s contentious post on her official X (formerly Twitter) handle alleged that Pakistan had succeeded in influencing a clause in the United Nations resolution condemning the Pahalgam terror attack. The clause allegedly read: “The terrorists did not kill after asking about religion…!”—a phrasing Bedi claimed was influenced by “tweets and videos of 12 Indian Opposition leaders.”

According to her post, these “evidences” included remarks by Khera himself, Congress leader Supriya Shrinate, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and others. Bedi suggested that Pakistan used these statements to dilute the international condemnation of the attack.

She further claimed that the original draft of the resolution had stated: “The Muslim terrorists killed after asking about religion…!” but the clause was eventually removed following an intervention by China, a permanent member of the UN Security Council with veto power.

Khera dismissed the claims as “fake propaganda” and demanded a public apology. The episode has sparked a fresh political storm, with the Congress accusing the BJP of using misinformation to target the Opposition, while Bedi’s supporters argue she merely echoed concerns over narrative warfare at global platforms.
