In the midst of political murmurs in Madhya Pradesh, Congress’ Rajya Sabha member Digvijaya Singh has dismissed rumors suggesting that senior party leader Kamal Nath may defect to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Singh affirmed that he had a conversation with Nath over the phone on Friday night, asserting that Nath has no intention of aligning with the saffron party.

Addressing the media in Jabalpur on Saturday, Digvijaya, a close confidant of Nath, stated, “I spoke to Kamal Nath ji last night on a phone call. He has no intent to leave Congress for the BJP. Kamal Nath is not going anywhere.”

Further elaborating on Nath’s allegiance, Digvijaya emphasized, “I know Kamal Nath ji very well. He is one such person who has always stood with the Nehru-Gandhi family. Nath stood like a strong pillar even when the government was preparing to send Indira Gandhi to jail in the late 1970s. Kamal Nath’s political journey started with the Nehru-Gandhi family. It’s impossible that he will now switch sides.”

Digvijaya’s remarks come amidst swirling rumors after Kamal Nath canceled all scheduled public meetings in Chhindwara and departed for Delhi. Additionally, his son, a Lok Sabha member, removed ‘Congress’ from his profile on social media platform X.

The senior Congress leader reiterated his concerns about the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), alleging manipulation to favor the central government. He reiterated his demand for the use of ballot papers in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, advocating for a transparent and fair electoral process.
