Srinagar: Taking a step closer towards strengthening the bond between the common public and the army jawans, and to know the culture of Kashmir better, Indian Army organised a bonfire and interaction with 59 elders and children of village Budshungi with an aim to celebrate the onset of Chillai Kalan (Coldest 40 Days of Kashmir).
During the course of the interaction Wali Mohammad Khatana, Numberdar of Budshungi gave a brief about Chillai Kalan to the gathering and also educated them on following aspects:
Requirement of taking adequate precautions during the coldest month of the year, Prudent use of Kangri and Bukharis, winter tuition classes being run by the government and importance of education rather than playing all the time, immediately seeking advice of doctors in case of any emergency.
He also requested the Indian Army Company Commander to continue with the much-appreciated Khairiyat patrols for the villages.
Apart from the interaction, the opportunity was also utilised to distribute blankets to previously identified poor and needy people of village Jaba and Behnipura as a good will gesture.
